FAQs
What is the Florida Baptist Association?
The Florida Baptist Association is a collection of 57 Southern Baptist church and missions working cooperatively to bring the gospel to the Big Bend region of Florida. It is one of 48 local associations that comprise the Florida Baptist Convention. Established in 1842, the FBA is the oldest association in the state of Florida and has been operating continuously for 170 years.
Where is the FBA?
The FBA encompasses the area known as the “Big Bend” and includes Leon and Wakulla counties, along with portions of Franklin and Jefferson counties.
You can find FBA churches in the area by using our Church Locator.
What does the FBA do?
Our primary purpose is to be a resource and support to churches, enabling them to fulfill the calling that God has given them: to go and make disciples.
We seek to better equip pastors and lay leaders for the work of ministry, to encourage and enhance the churches in our area and to give the community more information about Southern Baptist Churches. Please see our Resources page for specific tools the FBA provides its churches and leaders.
How is it governed?
The FBA is governed by a Board of Directors made up of pastors and laymen from its member churches who are elected annually by the Associational Council. The Associational Council is comprised of the pastors of our churches, along with a lay representative that each church designates.
How do churches become members of the FBA?
When churches in our region are established as part of the Florida Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention, they automatically become part of the Florida Baptist Association. Churches that were not originally constituted as Southern Baptist churches may request admission to the FBA by submission of said request to the Association Directors.
